Betsy and I have worked in gender in development for over three decades. As a part of the World Women's Veterinary Association Betsy founded, we travelled Europe and met with FAO, UNESCO, OECD, UNEP, and IFAD and WFP experts in Europe fundraising and framing a set of five guidebooks on gender for rural development including "Gender and Microenterprise" and "Gender and Indigenous Knowledge" the latter of which I was author. Betsy also recruited me to work with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) global study on "Gender, Science & Technology for Development".
Working with dozens of gender experts around the world in energy, agriculture, innovation, health, education and indigenous knowledge - this was one of the most successful global initiatives of its time, to move the thinking on science and technology and gender forward in the UN and NGO universes. Betsy builds leadership in those around her, infusing confidence and lending experience generously to the next generation of leaders.
